CATCH THE VISION TO REACH SOULS FOR CHRIST IN KENYA!

Thanks for giving us the time to introduce ourselves. My name is Jim Eberhard and my wife is Sybil. We want to let you know what God is doing in our hearts and lives.

For the past few years God has been dealing with Sybil and me concerning world missions. We have been praying and seeking His leadership in this area. We have participated in mission trips each year since October 1999. We have also been involved in heading up the outreach bus ministries at Cherry Street Baptist. Week after week we have run our bus routes, reaching into homes where the Gospel is desperately needed. We have seen many folks saved and added to the church. But in the midst of all that, a still small voice speaks to us saying, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" And we know it is God that is speaking to us about world missions.

God has been doing a work in our hearts toward Kenya, so we pursued that with Bro. Richard Konnerup. He is a veteran missionary to Kenya. We met with him and Ole his son, also a veteran missionary in Kenya. After much prayer and counsel from them and others in our ministry we are moving forward. On Mother’s Day 2006 we surrendered our lives to take the Gospel to Kenya. We completeded a survey trip in October 2006. In May of 2007 Cherry Street Baptist commissioned our family as missionaries to Kenya. That same month we were approved as Baptist Bible Fellowship missionaries. Now we are working to raise our support and proceed as God leads us. Kenya is a land that is open to the Gospel and where people are hungry for God’s Word, where souls are ready to hear the Gospel.

We are excited about what God is doing, but it is with mixed emotions that after finishing 20 years of being on staff at Cherry Street we must pick up and move to a land that is far away. Sybil has lived in this area all her life. Our kids have never lived anywhere else and have never known another church. I have been serving in the Bus and Children’s ministries since God moved me to Springfield in 1982 to attend Baptist Bible College.

In the mean time we would request prayer for three specific things as we take these steps?

First, pray for God to open doors of opportunity to share our vision.

Secondly, pray that God would raise up necessary support and supplies needed to move my family to Kenya.

Finally, pray that God would give us wisdom in transitioning our three children ages 13, 15, 18.

In His Service,

Jim & Sybil Eberhard
